Teen Charged As Adult In Fatal Shooting At Wayne Recreation Center

WAYNE (WWJ) - A teenager who allegedly shot and killed a man outside of a recreation center in Wayne is being charged as an adult. 

Sixteen-year-old Antoine Perry was arraigned via video in 18th District Court Friday morning on charges of felony murder, armed robbery and felony firearm. 

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office says Perry is accused of killing a 19-year-old Ypsilanti man during a drug deal gone bad on Nov. 26 outside of the HYPE Athletic Center on Howe Road. 

Investigators say Perry had contacted the victim to purchase marijuana and made arrangements to meet at the recreation center. When the victim began to drive away, Perry allegedly attempted take the marijuana without paying for it and shot the victim multiple times.

The victim ran inside the facility for help and was transported to a nearby hospital where he died. Perry was taken into custody days later. 

Perry is currently being held in the Wayne County Jail. He's due back in court for a probable cause conference on Dec. 21. A preliminary exam is set for Dec. 28.
