Police: Teen Killed In Crash Didn't Yield To Oncoming Semi-Truck

MONROE TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A teenager was killed and another was injured when their vehicle apparently pulled in front of oncoming traffic was struck by a semi-truck in Monroe County.

The accident happened around 1:35 p.m. Monday at the intersection of South Dixie Highway and Albain Road in Monroe Township.

According to police, 19-year-old Zachary Zinner of Newport was traveling eastbound on Albain when he entered the intersection without yielding to oncoming traffic and was struck by a semi-truck that was traveling southbound on Dixie. 

Zinner was pronounced dead at the scene. An 18-year-old woman in his vehicle received non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital. 

The semi-truck driver, a 41-year-old man from Ohio, was also transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

At this time, police say neither drugs or alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
