DETROIT (WWJ) -- Police are asking for the public's help in finding a teenage girl who went missing Friday night on Detroit's northwest side.

Police issued a serious missing child alert for 14-year-old Sateria Averett. She was last seen around 10:30 p.m. Friday at her home on Stansbury Avenue near Schaefer Highway and Lyndon.

Her mother says she left and did not return -- something she has never done before.

Averett is described at 5-foot-2, 160 lbs., with a light complexion, hazel brown green eyes and brown hair styled in a bun. She was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and black yoga pants.

Anyone who has seen Sateria Averett or knows of her location is asked to call the Detroit Police Department's Second Precinct at 313-596-5201.
