May 23, 2018 - 8:31 am

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are trying to catch three suspects who broke into a liquor store on the east side and made off with $5,000 worth of alcohol.

The break-in happened around 4:30 a.m. Monday, May 14 at the Lynch Party Store along Van Dyke Avenue and Lynch Road, just south of McNichols Road.

Security cameras were rolling as two dark-colored trucks pulled into the parking lot. One vehicle then backed into the front door of the store, breaking the glass. At that point, three men entered the store and spent some time inside. When they finally exited the building, the suspects were carrying a large garbage can.

The two vehicles then fled the location northbound on Van Dyke. One of the suspects also left the location on foot, police said.

On top of the alcohol, the suspects also made off with an undisclosed amount on cash.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect vehicles or has any other information is asked to contact police at 313-596-1140. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
