WWJ -- A few thousand DTE Energy customers were left to sweat things out in the heat Wednesday, as the company reported several power outages across metro Detroit.

As of 7:30 p.m., nearly 1,300 homes and businesses in Roseville were without power because of an equipment problem. People can expect power to be restored by 10:30 p.m., DTE says. A separate equipment problem is to blame for an outage that has left around 1,500 customers in Oxford without power. DTE says that problem should be fixed around 9:45 p.m.

Meanwhile, about 1,000 people in the Grosse Pointe area had no power, and the DTE outage map says that issue is due to high electrical demand. DTE said the problem was expected to be corrected by 11 p.m.

The outages come on a day that temperatures reached into the 90s, leaving some residents in the affected areas without air conditioning. As of 8 p.m. the temperatures in all three areas were in the high 80s, with heat indexes still in the 90s.

Earlier in the day, around 600 customers were without power in Brighton because tree damage, but DTE corrected that issue.

DTE says their crews are working as quickly as possible to fix all the issues.
