(WWJ) -- An arrest has been made in connection with a series of alleged shooting threats in the Melvindale-Northern Allen Park School District this week.

The district was closed Monday-Wednesday after anonymous threats were made on social media Sunday night, which prompted a police investigation. During the investigation, a new post was made to social media, referencing the original threat that was made, which prompted Melvindale High School and Strong Middle School to remain closed through Wednesday.

Police have not released any details about the suspect. The FBI was involved in the investigation.

Classes will resume Thursday, according to a letter from Mel-NAP Superintendent Kimberly Sorrano. Melvindale Police officers will be present at every school in the district on Thursday and counseling will be made available for all students, staff and parents who have any needs or concerns.

The department released a statement on Facebook late Wednesday afternoon, thanking those who helped in the investigation.
