MUNDY TWP. (WWJ) - Three Shiawassee County residents are facing charges in connection with the murder of a California man, who was found dead in a Michigan farm field.

Frederick Clark, 28, Christian Lover, 23, and Mataya Shaw, 23, are all charged with first-degree premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in the death of 20-year-old Austin Culkins.

Prosecutors say Culkins' body was discovered Saturday, April 21 in a field in Mundy Township, near Jennings and Baldwin roads, lying on the ground next to a truck with California license plates. He had multiple stab wounds, officials said, and was declared dead at the scene.

An investigation led police to Owosso and based on probable cause evidence, a warrant was authorized for the trio's arrest. Clark, Lover and Shaw were taken into custody Thursday.

Other details surrounding the case, including a possible motive, weren't released.
