CLINTON TWP. (WWJ) - The Clinton Township Police Department is looking for tips to identify a porch pirate caught on camera.

According to investigators, the female suspect stole some packages off a porch in the area of Metropolitan Parkway and Moravian in Clinton Twp. on Sunday, Sept. 15, at around 1:10 p.m.

The woman may have left the area in a silver Jeep, possibly a Patriot.

Photos of the woman were shared on social media Wednesday morning.

As police continue to work to ID the suspect, anyone with information should send an email to or call the Crime Tip Hotline at 586-493-7925.

Responding to an uptick in so called porch piracy, Michigan legislators passed and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer last week signed into law legislation that imposes stiffer penalties for crimes like this one.

If convicted, perpetrators face a misdemeanor charge punishable by one year in jail and a $500 fine for the first offense, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and  a $1,000 fine for a second offense, and 10 years and $2,000 thereafter. Additionally, it is a felony punishable by up to five years' imprisonment or a maximum fine of $1,000, or both, for those convicted of mail theft with the intent to commit fraud.
