Traffic Alert: Lodge Freeway Shutdown Begins Friday Morning

August 15, 2019 - 8:37 am

DETROIT (WWJ) - If you take the Lodge Freeway to get to Detroit, you might need a detour for the next couple weekends.

MDOT is closing southbound M-10 at Wyoming Avenue, south of McNichols Road, so crews can repair a bridge that was struck by a high-load vehicle and damaged.

Work to repair the beams will occur over two weekends. Since the work will require more time than a normal weekend closure, both closures will begin at 10 a.m. each Friday and will reopen by 5 a.m. the following Monday.

The first weekend closure starts at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16 and lasts until 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10.

The second weekend closure will start at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23 and last until 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26.

Lane closures will begin near 7 Mile Road on southbound M-10 to direct all three lanes of traffic to the Wyoming Avenue exit. Drivers will be able to cross Wyoming Avenue and re-enter southbound M-10.

Drivers are advised to be prepared for backups.
