Troy Police Searching For Driver In Fatal Pedestrian Hit-And-Run

TROY (WWJ) - Troy police are on the hunt for a man who hit and killed a pedestrian in a parking lot last Friday.

The responsible driver fled the scene, police said, following the incident at around 8:55 a.m. on May 29.

According to investigators, the victim  -- identifed as 48-year-old JV Binkley of Ann Arbor -- was on the job as a vending machine supplier when he was struck outside a medical office building at 500 Kirts Blvd., west of Livernois and south of I-75.

Binkley was taken to Royal Oak Beaumont hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect, who remained at large as of Tuesday afternoon, is described as a black male, 30 to 40 years old, with a well-trimmed, short beard.

He was driving a black SUV, make and model unknown. 

As the investigation continues, police said they are reviewing surveillance video from the area and seeking tips in the case.
