Truck Carrying 33 Cattle Overturns On I-94

LAWRENCE, Mich. (WWJ) - Authorities are trying to figure out what caused a cattle trailer with 33 cows inside to flip over on I-94 in western Michigan.

The crash happened early Wednesday morning on eastbound I-94 at mile marker 46, just east of Benton Harbor in Lawrence.

Officials tell WWJ four of the cattle died and one was injured. The remaining uninjured cattle were removed from the trailer and loaded onto other carriers.

Two people who were inside the truck were not injured. 

Circumstances leading to the crash weren't immediately clear, but roads were snow-covered at the time. 

The crash remains under investigation.
