Twins Charged In Coney Island Shooting Over Fried Mushrooms Due In Court

DETROIT (WWJ) - Twin brothers accused of shooting a man in a dispute over fried mushrooms are due to be back in court Thursday.

Dwight and Duane Samuels allegedly attacked a 40-year-old customer at Nicky D's Coney Island at 7 Mile and Greenfield roads last month. The 61-year-old twins became irate when workers at the restaurant informed them they didn't have fried mushrooms on the menu.

The men left the premises, but returned later with a metal pipe and a gun. The two then attacked a 40-year-old customer, beating him and ultimately shooting him before fleeing the scene.

The victim, a regular at the coney, was shot in the mouth and was last reported in critical condition.

The brothers are being charged with assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and four counts of felony firearm.

Dwight Samuels remains in custody on a $225,000 cash bond while Duane Samuels remains held on a $200,000 cash bond, both no 10 percent.
