(WWJ) - Indian automaker Mahindra has begun selling a unique off-road vehicle in the U.S., but they have bigger hopes.

WWJ AutoBeat Reporter Jeff Gilbert recently had the opportunity to drive Mahindra's ROXOR. The vehicle is aimed at off-roading enthusiasts, but it's also a test vehicle to see if there's a market for some of Mahindra's SUVs that are sold in other parts of the world.

The ROXOR has built at a facility in Auburn Hills that also serves as Mahindra's main technical center in the U.S.  It's currently developing a number of products, but Mahindra says it's too early to tell if they will be sold in the U.S. or abroad.

Mahindra is also known for tractors and farm vehicles that have been sold in the U.S. for decades.
