Waterford Man Stabbed, Robbed While Trying To Meet Woman For Sex

March 27, 2019 - 12:34 pm

PONTIAC (WWJ) - An investigation is underway in the case of Waterford Township man whose planned intimate rendezvous took a painful twist.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office says the 68-year-old victim was not initially truthful about what had happened; first telling deputies he was stabbed and robbed outside a party store at Baldwin Rd and Tregent St. in Pontiac.

Questioned further, however, investigators said the man admitted to detectives that he'd met a woman online and had arranged to meet her for a sexual encounter Tuesday, in the 100 block of Fireside Lane, in the area of Telegraph Rd. and Dixie Hwy.

When he got there, the man said, an unknown black male robbed him of $80 and stabbed him in his thigh.

Deputies responded to the address the victim gave them, but couldn't locate a crime scene or the alleged assailant, officials said. It's unclear if there ever was a woman who'd planned to meet the man, or if it was simply a setup.

The victim was taken by EMS to McLaren-Oakland Hospital where he was treated for a non-life-threatening injury and released.

An investigation is ongoing.
