Woman Arrested In Stabbing Death Of Ex-Boyfriend In Warren

March 11, 2019 - 10:13 am

WARREN (WWJ) - A 25-year-old woman has been arrested, accused in stabbing death of her ex-boyfriend in Warren.

Warren Police Commissions Bill Dwyer said the suspect dropped the victim off at a local hospital late Friday night, after she stabbed him in the abdomen at the Georgetown Manor apartment complex on Hoover Road, just north of 11 Mile.

The 24-year-old man died of his injury, according to police, and his alleged attacker was arrested in Detroit Saturday morning.

As for how and why it happened: "Her statement alluded to that she was acting in self defense," Dwyer said. "That she was the ex-girlfriend, that she went over to the apartment complex to talk to him, the victim, about possibly maybe getting back together."

"An argument ensued in the parking lot, and then that's where the stabbing took place," Dwyer said.

No names have yet been released.

The suspect is expected to be arraigned on a charge of second degree murder Monday afternoon in 37th District Court.

Dwyer said this is Warren's first homicide of the year. The city had four murders in 2018; all four between people who were either acquainted of related.
