Woman Killed, Another Critically Injured In Rear-End Crash

June 23, 2018 - 2:49 pm

ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - Police in Roseville are investigating a rear-end crash that left one woman dead and another fighting for her life.

The accident happened around 12:30 p.m. Saturday along Martin Road just east of Grosebeck.

According to police, a Chrysler Pacifica minivan was traveling westbound on Martin when the 36-year-old driver apparently lost control of the vehicle, which rear ended a Pontiac Grand Prix that was stopped at a red light.

The driver of the Pacifica was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. A 66-year-old woman who was in the front passenger seat was also transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. A boy who was sitting in the back seat, between the ages of 6 and 8, was treated at the scene for minor injuries and turned over to a family member. Police haven't yet disclosed the relationship, if any, between the three.

The driver of the Grand Prix was also transported to the hospital for apparent non-life-threatening injuries.

Police aren't yet sure if distracted driving, alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.

An investigation is ongoing.
