GROSSE POINTE FARMS (WWJ) - Authorities say a person who was pulled from Lake St. Clair Wednesday morning has died.

The woman, identified by the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office as 51-Michelle Young, was found at around 6:30 a.m. in cold and choppy water near Moran and Lake Shore Drive, just west of Pier Park, and taken to a local hospital.

It's still not known how the woman ended up in the lake, or how long she may have been there.

It's also unclear if this could have been an accident, or if foul play is suspected.

Thursday morning, a spokesperson for the medical examiner said the cause and circumstances of the woman's death were still pending, and Grosse Pointe Farms police told WWJ they are not releasing any additional information at this time.

The eastbound side of Lake Shore Drive was closed for several hours Wednesday as police were investigating at the scene.
