Cops: Woman On The Run After Hitting, Killing Man In Warren

June 26, 2019 - 1:21 pm

WARREN (WWJ) - Warren police are asking for tips to track down a woman wanted in a deadly hit-and-run.

Manslaughter and other charge have been filed against 36-year-old Valerie Ann Bostle of St. Clair Shores in the June 5 death of 55-year-old Peter Chisholm of Warren.

According to Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer, Bostle hit the man as he was trying to cross Schoenherr Rd. near Julius St., north of 9 Mile, and then dragged him for about a mile under her car.

Eventually, Dwyer said, Chisholm was struck by a second driver who stopped and called for help.

"This is a tragedy that easily could've been prevented if the suspect had just stopped her vehicle, rather than continuing on and dragging the victim," Dwyer told WWJ's Rob St. Mary.  "His personal belongings like his watch and belt and shoes, I mean they were scattered throughout that one mile radius, you know. It's unbelievable."

Dwyer said Bostle cut and colored her hair before fleeing with her 3-year-old daughter on June 12, taking a bus to Georgia where she's believed to be hiding out, possibly in the Atlanta area.

While the search continues, detectives have been speaking with Bostle's family members whom they hope will help bring her to justice.

Best case scenario at this point, Dwyer said: "Actually have her family convince her to turn herself in, just because it would go easier if she did."

Anyone who knows of Bostle's whereabouts is urged to call Warren police at 586-574-4700 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 1-800-SPEAK-UP (1-800-773-2587).
