INKSTER (WWJ) - A 19-year-old Ypsilanti man has been charged in the fatal shooting of an Inkster teen.

Johtez Zyair Hoskins was arraigned in 22nd District Court Thursday on involuntary manslaughter and felony firearms charges in connection with the incident last Sunday

Michigan State Police said the shooting was believed to have been an accident after witnesses report Hoskins was handling a firearm in a home in the 800 block of Clair Street in Inkster, when it fired -- striking 16-year-old Darian Oneal in the head.

Oneal was pronounced dead on the scene.  Authorities said Hoskins, who also shot himself in the hand, fled the scene on foot.

An investigation led Inkster police to a local hospital where Hoskins was being treated, and he was taken into custody.

Hoskins was arraigned in 22nd District Court Thursday morning on involuntary manslaughter and felony firearms charges.

He remains jailed on a $250,000 cash bond awaiting a probable cause conference scheduled for April 24.
